How Destiny Matrix compatibility is calculated
The Destiny Matrix is a chart of 22 energies — called arcana, after the Major Arcana of Tarot — placed on the points of an eight-pointed star and calculated from a date of birth. Compatibility in this system is not "your sign versus their sign". It is a separate pair chart: take the nine main points of the two charts — the four corners of the square, the four corners of the diamond and the center — and add them pairwise: your left point to your partner's left point, top to top, center to center. Whenever a sum goes above 22, add its digits together. The result is a new chart: the matrix of the relationship. That is how the Destiny Matrix schools teach it, and that is what the calculator on this page does.
Each point of the pair chart answers its own question, and each is read as a triad "what — why — outcome":

How we read the pair chart: a half, a quarter, a quarter
Destiny Matrix schools have a set order for assessing a partner; we carry it over to the pair chart and keep to it in every verdict.
- The center of the pair chart — about half of the answer. This is what the couple is filled with: the essence of the relationship, the core of the family. If the center is, say, 5 — The Hierophant, the union rests on shared rules and family tradition; if it is 11 — Strength, on drive and passion, and the arguments there are louder. Every energy has a plus and a minus side, and which one switches on depends on the two of you.
- The money line of the pair — another quarter. The money line is the number under the diamond on the right, between the center and the right point; practitioners describe it as the point where the center energy meets money. It shows how the couple runs its household: who earns, who spends, what the money arguments are about. In the minus it is loans taken "without thinking about tomorrow" and mutual blame; in the plus, a shared plan and calm conversations about the budget.
- The karmic tail of the pair — the last quarter. A couple has its own shared karmic tail: three energies at the bottom of the pair chart that describe the problem of this union specifically — change the partner and the tail changes too. It is the theme the couple keeps bumping into, and it can be worked through.
The three steps add up to the score out of 10: a strong center pulls the score up, strained money and tail pull it down — always with a note on what to do about it.
Five mistakes people make with compatibility
- Looking only at the day-of-birth arcana. The day number is the "calling card" — how people see you. For a couple the center matters more: who the person is at the core and what fills them up. Two identical calling cards say nothing about the union yet.
- Building a "triple chart" with a child. Practitioners advise against it: folding three charts into one is wrong, because every pair of people has its own dynamic. A child is read pairwise — with each parent separately.
- Treating hard energies as a sentence. Destiny Matrix courses say it outright: there are no incompatible couples, only couples who have not yet understood their task — and favorable energies do not guarantee a quiet life either. 15 — The Devil in the center of a pair is about money, the body and control — hardly a reason to run — and it has a strong plus side.
- Reading everything at once. A pair chart holds two dozen numbers, and dumping them all at once turns into mush. One or two energies at a time: the center first, then money, then the tail.
- Expecting a date and a "stay or leave" verdict. The chart shows tasks and areas of choice, with no dates attached. The decision is always yours, both of you.
A worked example
Take an invented couple: she was born on 14 March 1991, he on 22 November 1989. Her calling card is 14 (Temperance) and her center is 11 (Strength); his calling card is 22 (The Fool) and his center is 12 (The Hanged Man). Add the nine points pairwise and the pair chart comes out as: meeting A = 9, adjustment B = 14, money C = 11, trials D = 16, center = 5; the money line of the pair = 16, the shared tail 16–16–5. From here we read only what the three steps need.
Step 1, the center — 5, The Hierophant. The union holds together on shared rules and conversation: a home where people know how to agree, where family and tradition count, where dinner-table talk is about "the right way to do things". In the minus the same five turns into lecturing, "I know better", and a home that feels like a hotel both of you come back to sleep in. The meeting point 9 (The Hermit) suggests they met over a shared interest, a conversation or a class, more likely than at a loud party; the adjustment 14 (Temperance) passes without blow-ups, with the risk of settling into a comfortable rut where the important things stop being said.
Step 2, money — 16, The Tower, and the same 16 in the trials point D. This is a financial seesaw: money comes in and collapses if the couple takes loans "without thinking about tomorrow" and lends to people who won't pay back; in the plus it is the courage to rebuild the household after a crisis and not to cling to what is over. Step 3, the couple's tail 16–16–5: the shared theme of these two is "tear down and rebuild" against "live by the rules"; the task is a plan and commitments they can actually keep instead of sharp U-turns. Total across the three steps: a strong center, money as the risk zone, the tail as shared work. Destiny Matrix compatibility — frequently asked questions
Can I check Destiny Matrix compatibility with just the day of birth, without the year?
No. The day gives only the "calling card" — how a person looks to others. A pair chart needs all nine points of each chart, and those come from the day, the month and the year: the center, the love and money lines and the karmic tail cannot be built without the year. Time of birth is not needed.
What does it mean if the center of our pair chart is a "hard" arcana — 15, 16 or 18?
That the couple has one loud theme to handle consciously: with 15 it is money, the body and control; with 16, sudden changes and pride; with 18, fears and things left unsaid. Each of these energies has a working plus side, so the couple has a task to work on, not a sentence — see the mistakes section above.
Should we build a triple chart — mother, father and child?
No. A triple chart is not calculated: adding three charts into one is methodically wrong. A child's compatibility is read pairwise — with the mother separately and with the father separately — and two adults need only their pair chart.
What is the karmic tail of a couple and why does it matter?
Three energies at the bottom of the pair chart. They describe a problem that exists in this union specifically — with a different partner the tail would be different. How accurate is compatibility by date of birth — can I trust it?
The chart shows tendencies and areas of choice, not facts or dates. The same energies play out differently in different couples — it depends on the people and on whether an energy runs in its plus or its minus. Use the verdict as a map of things to talk about together.
